As our enrollment grows, we’re continuing to build an outstanding team of summer staff. We are thrilled with the exceptional individuals who have decided to join us so far — Pine Islanders and new faces alike — but we are still seeking thoughtful, capable people for the following roles:
- Expedition Camp Counselor: This role requires significant trip-leading acumen, and experience on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway and Vermont’s Long Trail is preferred.
- Fly Fishing Counselor: The Fly Fishing counselor teaches campers the basics of casting, knot-tying, and fly selection while sharing the excitement of fishing Pine Island’s waters.
- Archery Counselor: The Archery counselor teaches campers the fundamentals of archery, including proper stance, aim, and range safety, while sharing the satisfaction of hitting the target.
- Kitchen Crew: The KC role is open to folks with prior food service experience and to those for whom this would be their first kitchen job; any KC member should be ready to work hard and learn a lot!
You can learn more about each of these positions here.
If you (or someone you know) are looking for a summer that’s purposeful, adventurous, and full of human connections, we encourage you to consider a summer at PIC.
Working at camp offers a rare combination of responsibility, growth, and fun:
- Make a Real Difference: Play a meaningful role in helping boys develop independence, confidence, and character in a supportive community.
- Develop High-Level Interpersonal Skills: Participate in two weeks of intensive training covering child development, conflict resolution, decision-making under pressure, leadership, motivation, and teamwork. Ongoing coaching throughout the summer reinforces and deepens these skills.
- Strengthen Your Professional Profile: Camp experience is highly regarded by employers. At summer’s end, staff receive a formal evaluation and a personalized letter of recommendation from the Director.
- Earn Recognized Certifications: Opportunities include Wilderness First Responder, ACA Level II Canoeing, and Lifeguard certification — credentials that carry value far beyond camp.
- Live Simply: in the Outdoors! Spend your days immersed in the natural beauty of Pine Island, unplugged from screens and grounded in community and place.
- Build Enduring Relationships: Join a close-knit group of staff whose friendships often last long after the summer ends.
- Enjoy the Experience: From campfires and performances to trips and everyday moments of laughter, camp life is engaging, playful, and memorable.
We are looking for individuals who are empathetic, adaptable, and motivated to contribute. Comprehensive training and ongoing support are provided throughout the summer. Staff dates for 2026 run from Saturday, June 13th through Wednesday, August 12th. Campers are in session from Friday, June 26th through Sunday, August 9th.
