Dear Friends of Pine Island Camp,
When you spend your summers without your phone (and electricity), you start to get creative quickly.
From clever campfire games to full-length theatrical shows, campers tap into their imagination and discover that it’s unlimited.
And then they share their gifts, and we’re all better for it. That’s how our community works.
One day this summer, fifth-year camper Ford had such an opportunity and crafted this Pine Island version of the popular New York Times puzzle game, Connections. He settled down in front of the dining hall fireplace on a windy July day and drew on his deep knowledge of camp to come up with four groups of four related Pine Island words. See if you can follow his thinking and solve the puzzle!
If you think you’ve solved it and want to confirm, you can find the answer on page 8 of this year’s edition of the Mid-Summer Pine Needle.
All the best,

Sarah Hunter
